Andhra Wakf Board CEO caught taking bribe

Hyderabad, June 17 (IANS) Andhra Pradesh State Wakf Board Chief Executive Officer (CEO) B.S. Farooq Ahmed was Thursday caught red handed while taking a bribe.

Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) officials said the CEO was caught when he was taking Rs.1 lakh from a person who wanted a job in the Wakf Board.

An official said Farooq had demanded Rs.2 lakh from Arshad, a youth from Kadapa district, to appoint him as a security guard. Farooq was caught while taking Rs.1 lakh.

ACB officials raided Farooq's house to conduct a thorough probe into his assets.

Patna: Taking a new initiative to uplift the poor Muslim community, the Munger-based Rahmani Foundation has decided to offer coaching facilities to meritorious Muslim students who want to become chartered accountants. The Foundation, under the guidance of Maulana Mohammed Wali Rahmani, is successfully running Rahmani-30 for IIT-JEE.

Rahmani Foundation will hold written admission test on June 27 for Chartered Accountancy coaching. This coaching will be run by Rahmani Foundation in association with Ummul Qura Foundation, Pune, Maharashtra.

Air India pays Rs 17 crore to Mangalore crash victims

New Delhi: Air India, by June 11, has paid Rs 17 crore in compensation to the victims of the Mangalore air crash. The IX-812 flight of Air India Express B737-800 aircraft operating from Dubai to Mangalore crash-landed at Bajpe Airport in Mangalore on May 22, 2010, killing 158 people. There were only 8 survivors among 160 passengers and 6 crew members on board.

Two minor sisters killed

Patna : A brick kiln owner battered two minor sisters to death in a rural part of Bihar after one of them picked a piece of a brick to hammer a wood into the ground, police said Thursday.

The gruesome murders took place Wednesday in Birpur Lokhra village in Purnia district, about 350 km from here. The victims were identified as Julekha, 13, and Dulari, 11.

According to police, the sisters were grazing goats near the brick kiln when one of them took a piece of brick from the kiln. Furious, the owner, Badruddin, hit Julekha in the head with a brick, killing her instantly.
