Pune blast: Chidambaram improves his statement on Bhatkal

New Delhi: Though late Union Home Minister P. Chidambaram seems to have admitted his praise of Maharashtra ATS on arrest of Abdul Samad Bhatkal as prime suspect of Pune bakery blast was an act done in haste. The Report Card of the Ministry of Home Affairs for May 2010 that Chidambaram released today talks about Bhatkal but in a cautious tone.

Andhra churches demand 15% of minority funds

Hyderabad: The Andhra Pradesh Federation of Churches (APFC), an apex body of the Bishops and Heads of Churches in the state, met Chief Minister Dr K. Rosaiah on May 29 and demanded allocation of 15% of Minority Funds for the Christian community in all state welfare schemes.

SIO condemns Israeli attack on unarmed Gaza aid ship

New Delhi: The Students Islamic Organisation of India (SIO) strongly condemned the attack of Israel on the Gaza aid ship convoy that was carrying aid to the war affected Gaza. In a condolence message from Istanbul, SIO President Suhail KK said the attack is "really inhuman," demanded Israel to stop such activities.

In the condolence message from Istanbul, SIO President said: "It's really inhuman to kill 16 unarmed people by open fire while activists in the Freedom Flotilla were from non-violent groups like Free Gaza Movement or Turks."

Israeli attack on Gaza flotilla, UK’s slow response condemned

New Delhi: The Israeli attack on the convoy of ships carrying humanitarian aid to Gaza early Monday is being widely condemned. At least 19 passengers were reportedly killed in the attack. Slow British reaction to the attack even when the fate of 28 Britons among some 700 passengers on the humanitarian flotilla remains unknown has also been condemned.

New Delhi: Jamia Millia Islamia has signed an MoU with the University of Zurich, Switzerland to further academic exchanges in the broad area of Mass Communication and Media Studies. The MoU was signed with the Institute of Mass Communication and Media Research at the University of Zurich.

Dialogue and rights violations can't go together: Mirwaiz

Srinagar : Mirwaiz Umar Farooq, chairman of the moderate Hurriyat group, said here Monday that "human rights violations and the dialogue process cannot go on together" in Jammu and Kashmir, referring to the killing of three civilians in an alleged staged shootout last month.
