PFI encourages students with its “School Chalo” campaign

Bangalore: Muslims students have high drop-out rates, to plug-in this major source of educational backwardness Popular Front of India (PFI) organizes an annual "School Chalo" programme in which students from the weaker sections are given scholarships. In Karnataka, programme was conducted in various localities on June 5th and 6th this year.

Violence is shockingly becoming the language of all and sundry. One only has to look around to see how violence is becoming a part of life in a world filled with lofty ambitions and selfish desires. Apart from ambition and selfishness I think there are other reasons also for violence finding so much universal acceptance. Among them is the lack of patience among people, the glorification of violence and its association with patriotism and valour.

Two army men suspended over Kashmir civilian killings

Srinagar/New Delhi : A day ahead of Prime Minister Manmohan Singh's Kashmir visit, the Indian Army Sunday suspended two senior officers - a colonel and a major - for their alleged involvement in the killing of three civilians in a staged shootout in April after they were labelled as infiltrators from Pakistan, officials said.

Commanding Officer of 4 Rajput Regiment Colonel D.K. Pathania has been removed from his command and Major Upender, named as the prime suspect in the April 30 shootout case, has also been relieved of active duty pending the inquiry, officials said.
