Modi does not appear before SIT Sunday Posted: 21 Mar 2010 09:47 AM PDT By IANS, Gandhinagar: Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi did not appear before the Special Investigation Team (SIT) to depose Sunday, on accusations made by Zakia Jaffri, widow of former Congress MP Ehsan Jaffri killed during the 2002 communal riots. This was as expected for SIT chief R.K.Raghavan was not present here nor was there any indication that the Gujarat chief minister was likely to present himself before it. |

Declaring this at the conclusion of its three-day annual convention at the Nadwatul Darul Uloom Islamic University here, AIMPLB spokesman Maulana Abdul Rahim Quraishi told a press conference Sunday evening: "The board takes exception to India's increasing proximity with Israel from where we have even entered into arms-purchase agreement." |
AMU student of Azamgarh goes missing from campus, students protest Posted: 21 Mar 2010 09:25 AM PDT By Mumtaz Alam Falahi, TwoCircles.net, New Delhi: Right now about 300 students of Aligarh Muslim University are sitting outside Allama Iqbal Hall inside the university campus demanding the authorities about the whereabouts of Class 12 student Mohd Ahmed of Azamgarh who went missing on Friday night and still traceless. Aligarh District police officials are camping near the hall and assuring the agitating students that they are doing their best to recover the boy. |

"For Israel we should stick to Nehruvian era and follow the same approach. Following Gandhi's views, India should oppose the atrocities on Palestinian people," said Maulana Abdul Raheem Qureshi, the assitant general secretary of the board while interacting with reporters on the concluding day of the board's convention in Nadwatul Uloom on Sunday. |

Khan, who was arrested for his alleged role in the violence but later given clean chit, said the top police officers were of communal mind and had connived with sitting BJP MLA for the riots. |
