New Delhi: While negating the police claims and media reports that Salman is 21-years-old and pointing the gross violation of rights of minors by security forces in the case arrest of Salman Ahmad of Azamgarh, Jamia Teachers' Solidarity Association (JTSA) wrote a letter to Special Commissioner on Juvenile Justice, Harsh Mandar and urged to consider this case with the extreme urgency.

Hyderabad: Hyderabad is crazy for cricket, but switching off their TV this evening when IPL match is on, a sea of Muslims is right now at the sprawling campus of Darus Salaam, the headquarters of Majlis Ittehadul Muslimeen. To show their unity and vow to launch a movement on the issue of Muslim reservation. Very recently Andhra Pradesh High Court has struck down the 4% reservation to Muslims in the state.

Patna: With enthusiasm and determination Muslim women in Patna today demanded their exclusive shares in Women's Reservation Bill. A number of Muslim women from across the city, mostly burqa wearing, sat on dharna under the banner of Bihar Muslim Khawateen Morcha at Kargil Chowk protesting against the bill in its present form and demanding quota for Muslim and backward women.

Lucknow: Jahangirabad Media Institute (JMI) was relaunched in Barabanki district, around 30 kms from Lucknow in Uttar Pradesh on Saturday. The launching ceremony witnessed screening a documentary film produced and directed by its Director, Gauhar Raza. The institute will function from the heritage building of Jahangirabad Fort of erstwhile Jahangirabad estate.

Hyderabad: Muslims in India are badly under represented in different spheres of life. Their exclusion is rather dramatic. However, like other backward communities, Muslim marginalization has its own history. Prominent Social Scientist, Professor Javeed Alam, Chairman, Indian Council of Social Sciences & Research (ICSSR) expressed these views on Friday while delivering a lecture on "Contemporary Muslim Situation in India: Temporal Dimension" at Maulana Azad National Urdu University.

Bareilly : Tension continued in Uttar Pradesh's Bareilly district, parts of which have been under curfew for 12 days, following the fresh outbreak of trouble in which 15 people were injured the day before, police said Saturday.

"We are reviewing the situation almost after every one hour... Still, the situation is tense, but it is well under control," Deputy Inspector General of Police (DIG) (Bareilly range) Rajiv Sabharwal told reporters here.

Patna : Bihar's young teenage icon Farzana Begum, who was given the National Bravery Award for saving five people from drowning, alleges her medal has been stolen from her house.

Farzana, 18, told IANS: "The medal given to me for my bravery has been stolen. I am shocked... The medal was kept in an iron box inside a wooden bed. It was stolen Thursday night during reconstruction of my thatched house. My certificates have not been stolen."

She has filed a police complaint.

Patna: After much hue and cry, at last Rajya Sabha has passed the Women's Reservation Bill, one of the most controversial bill, on 9th March 2010. Though its advocates named it a historical step towards women empowerment and necessary for active political participation of women but its opponent termed it as biggest blunder in democratic India and an attempt to deprive Minority and backward classes people.
