RJD asks MPs to vote against women reservation bill

New Delhi: The Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) Sunday issued a whip to its party MPs in the Rajya Sabha to vote against the women's reservation bill being taken up in the house Monday.

RJD leader and party whip Rajniti Prasad said the party MPs will oppose the bill and vote against it.

"A whip has been issued to party MPs to remain present in the house Monday and vote against the bill," Prasad told IANS.

The RJD has four members in the Rajya Sabha.

AMU handed over land for Malappuram centre

Malappuram: The first piece of land for the special centre of Aligarh Muslim University in Malappuram was handed over in a grand festival at Perinthalmanna on Saturday March 6. The documents of the land were handed over by Kerala Education Minister Sri M.A. Baby to the AMU Vice Chancellor, Prof: P.K. Abdul Azis.
The program which started at 8.30 in the morning with a huge procession consisting of ministers, political leaders and common men from the KSRTC bus stand undoubtedly gave excitement and proud to each one in the state.

Women's quota bill 'anti-Muslim','anti-Dalit': Mulayam

Lucknow : Samajwadi Party president Mulayam Singh Yadav Sunday termed the women's reservation bill "anti-Muslim" and "anti-Dalit", and said it will restrict chances of members of these communities getting elected to legislatures.

"When states like Rajasthan, Gujarat, Maharastra, Punjab, Haryana, Himachal Pradesh, Delhi or Orissa rarely elect even a single Muslim, the reservation for women will further minimise the chance of a Muslim ever getting elected from these places," he said at a press conference here.
