Text of resolution adopted at all-party meeting

Srinagar: The all-party meeting chaired here Monday by Chief Minister Omar Abdullah adopted the following resolutions:

"The meeting expressed deep anguish at the unfortunate loss of lives during the recent disturbances and appealed to the state government to consider adequate relief in favour of the families of the deceased.

"The meeting further expressed its dismay over the economic losses suffered by the people during the disturbances, particularly by the small traders, vendors, daily wagers and other weaker sections of the society.

Kashmir parties for independent probe into civilian killings

Srinagar: The all-party meeting convened by the Jammu and Kashmir government Monday decided to set up an independent commission to probe the killing of 14 civilians in firing by security forces during the recent violent flare up in the troubled state.

Amid boycott by the main opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), the meeting adopted a resolution to address the present crisis in the Kashmir Valley and appealed to all political parties to help in restoration of peace and normalcy in the state.

Kerala becoming a centre of Islamic fundamentalists: BJP

New Delhi: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Monday said Kerala is becoming a centre of Islamic fundamentalists and it has sent a team of party leaders to probe the chopping off of a lecturer's palm by a radical outfit there.

"Yes, a team has been sent to Kerala. The Left government there is not taking any action," BJP spokesperson Ravi Shankar Prasad told reporters here.

With PDP boycotting it, the all-party meeting convened by the Jammu and Kashmir government today appealed to all political parties irrespective of their affiliation to come forward and help in restoration of peace and normalcy in the state.

Patna: The Institute of Post-Graduate Studies and Research in Arabic and Persian Learning (Idara Tahqiqat Arabi and Farsi) was set up in 1955 by Bihar government on the demand of the Muslim community in the capital city of Patna. The sole purpose behind the establishment of the institute was to produce researchers in Arabic and Persian languages. But today it is a typical case of official neglect. In fact, it is bleeding to death, bit by bit, and silently.

Special Centres: AMU house put in order

Aligarh: The Academic Council of Aligarh Muslim University today resolved the differences between the two top bodies of the university over the use of term for the special off-campus centres coming up in different parts of the country.

"Academic Council held today has reconsidered its draft amendments/ additions in the Statutes today and altered the use of words "Regional Campuses" in the light of Visitor's approval and replaced it by the term "Centres", said AMU PRO Dr Rahat Abrar.

Srinagar: Kashmir Broadcasters Association (KBA) warns authority for imposing restriction on the daily broadcasting in valley.

While expressing views, a spokes person of KBA in a meeting held at press enclave in Srinagar said that, "we strongly condemn the barbaric and unconstitutional order of state government in which it has been directed to all channels based in Kashmir valley that they shall have to broadcast only for 15 minutes inspite of 24 hours broadcasting".

Sahulat to facilitate 500 interest-free cooperative branches

New Delhi: The Sahulat Microfinance Society has decided to promote and facilitate 500 interest-free cooperative branches across the country by the end of 2016. The Society in its July 9 meeting held here also decided to establish four regional offices and training and research units.

The newly formed Delhi-based Sahulat will mobilize seed money for new cooperatives and branches. It will provide framework for networking of cooperatives at the national level.

Curfew lifted in Kashmir, PDP will not attend all-party meet

Srinagar: Curfew was today lifted in the Kashmir valley. The decision to end the curfew, clamped on July 6 after incidents of violence, came after the situation remained generally peaceful.

However, as a preventive step, prohibitory orders were imposed in Baramulla, Anantnag and Pulwama districts besides some parts of Srinagar.
