Gujarat High Court quashes FIR against police official Posted: 31 Aug 2010 10:21 AM PDT Gandhinagar, Aug 31 (IANS) A single judge bench of the Gujarat High Court Tuesday quashed the First Information Report (FIR) filed against senior IPS officer Kuldeep Sharma charging him with murder in a 26-year-old shootout case. In a setback to the Narendra Modi government and the police, Justice R.H. Shukla ordered quashing of the FIR and rejected the state's plea of stay on the order. |

In a zero hour mention in the Rajya Sabha, CPI-M leader Brinda Karat blamed the central government for "negligence" towards the Kashmir issue. "How many more children have to be killed? Irshad Ahmad Parray, 11, was killed when a huge mob of stone pelters attacked the Sherbagh police post in Anantnag town Monday evening after which security forces fired rubber bullets at the protesters.
