The moon sighting committee comprising religious scholars announced that the Ramzan moon was sighted in some towns. Sirens blared from mosques across Jammu and Kashmir as Muslims began preparations for the fasting month. The holy month of Ramadan, this marks a 30-day period of fasting. People were seen greeting each other on the beginning of the holy month. Taraveeh (special Ramzan prayers) began at the mosques. |

Narasimha Rao for his role in the construction of a makeshift Ram temple at the site of the demolished Babri Masjid in Ayodhya. Singhal told reporters here Wednesday that the late Rao ensured construction of the temple Dec 6, 1992. "There is no doubt that Narasimaha Rao played an important role in the construction of the temple. His role cannot be ignored," Singhal said. |

Therefore the first day of fasting will be on Thursday. Farangi Mahli has also greeted the muslims on the occasion of holy month of Ramzan. |

On Wednesday, the hearing was re-scheduled after Shah's advocate Mitesh Amin informed the court that senior Supreme Court advocate, Ram Jethmalani, would not be able to appear on his behalf. Amin pleaded for a new date and the court fixed the hearing Aug 17. |

The sources said that the GoM will convey its decision to the Cabinet for a final decision on the issue. At its meeting July 1, the GoM had decided to seek the views of political parties in four weeks on the need for a caste-based headcount. |

"Curfew is in place in old city areas of Srinagar, including uptown Maisuma and Batmaloo localities. Curfew has also been imposed in south Kashmir's Pampore, Pulwama, Kakpora and Tral towns to prevent separatist-incited violence," a senior police officer said here. |

"The body of Faraq Bukhari, 18, who had been missing since July 28 from his native Kreeri village in Baramulla was fished out today from Ningli stream in Choora village," a senior police officer said here. The teenager had allegedly been arrested by security forces July 28 after violent protests broke out in Kreeri village. |
