Central willing to hold talks with all sections in Kashmir: HM Posted: 01 Sep 2010 10:17 AM PDT By Manoj Khar, Agence India Press New Delhi: Central Government on Wednesday expressed its willingness to hold talks with any group from the Kashmir Valley wishing to come forward amid indications that it would be soon coming out with a series of measures to address the issue. Union Home Minister P.Chidambaram on Wednesday said that Central Government is hopeful of re-starting the process of dialogue in the near future in Jammu and Kashmir. |

Ashis Nandy denied relief in case filed by Gujarat police Posted: 01 Sep 2010 08:33 AM PDT By IANS, New Delhi : The Delhi High Court Wednesday refused to quash criminal proceedings against political analyst Ashis Nandy which have been initiated by the Gujarat police for his writing an article in a national daily allegedly portraying the state in bad light. Justice S.N. Dhingra refused to give relief to the 73-year-old scholar and dismissed his plea for quashing the proceedings against him. The state government initiated the proceedings against him on a complaint filed by V.K. Saxena, president of Ahmedabad-based NGO National Council for Civil Liberties. |

Amin's plea to turn an approver. Justice Akil Kureshi ordered the notices to be issued after a designated Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) court Aug 26 referred suspended deputy superintendent of police Amin's plea to the high court to decide its constitutional validity. Amin's co-accused challenged the jurisdiction of the CBI court to accept his plea to turn an approver. |

Venkateshan available to the Special Investigating Team (SIT) probing the 2002 post-Godhra riot cases. The court was told that the state government has already written to the union home ministry about it. An apex court bench of Justice D.K. Jain, Justice P. Sathasivam and Justice Aftab Alam was told that Venkateshan would be relieved shortly. |

Shah, who is in Sabarmati prison, had undergone a minor incision in the jail hospital Monday following an abscess. According to jail officials, a decision was taken to move him to the hospital following some complications since he is also a diabetic. |
