A former senior functionary of the medical college, who preferred to remain anonymous, told this writer, "Badly needed funds for life saving equipment and drugs are being denied to this hospital which caters to the medical needs of half a dozen districts in western U.P". |

Kashmir mobs defy curfew, two protesters injured Posted: 14 Aug 2010 12:44 AM PDT By IANS, Srinagar : Curfew was imposed in the Kashmir Valley Saturday as curfew-defying mobs pelted stones at police and paramilitary vehicles and security forces resorted to firing, injuring two protesters. "Except for Ganderbal, Bandipora and Awantipora districts, curfew has been imposed in the entire valley today (Saturday) to prevent violence. The situation is being closely monitored," a senior police officer said. |

This fund has been allocated to the University for the purpose of upgradation of laboratories, construction of new buildings and extension of old buildings among other things. This special allocation of Rs 54.2 crore is over and above the XIth Plan General Development Grant sanctioned by the UGC to the University. |

Yet, if the run up to these conciliatory gestures is considered, there is little evidence of the Indian government's willingness to make a special effort to conquer hearts and minds. Instead, what was seen in Srinagar and elsewhere in Jammu and Kashmir in the last few weeks was an unusually harsh police response to stone-throwing crowds. |

Rahul, Atal and Kaushal, sons of Hargovind Singh, allegedly shot dead Mohd Alam Friday evening at their farm house in Pakarbarda, 250 km from Lucknow. "It all started when Alam along with his two friends stopped in front of the farm house gate to check about some address with the three brothers," Superintendent of Police (City) Rahul Yadvendra told reporters in Moradabad. |

The Act adds two important features to the power of the National Commission for Minority Educational Institutions (NCMEI). NCMEI is a quasi-judicial body empowered to deal with the issues of minority educational institutions in India. It was established in November 2004. |
