Quota of 26519 devotees for Haj-2010 from UP

Lucknow: The Haj Committee of India (HCI) has allotted a quota of 26519 devotees for haj pilgrimage-2010 from Uttar Pradesh. These candidates have to submit their passport forms by May 31 at the special counter in the State Haj Committee (SHC) at Lucknow.

Academic activities in first Arabi Farsi University of U.P. may begin in July

New Delhi: Mohammad Reyaz, a final year journalism student from Jamia Millia Islamia, is among fifteen students selected from across the world to attend an International Summer School on "Muslims in the West" being organized at Erfurt University, Germany.

Reyaz, a student of final year MA Convergent Journalism course at Anwar Jamal Kidwai-Mass Communication Research Centre, has been selected to participate in the workshop being organized by the Chair of Islamic Studies at the University of Erfurt, Germany from 14 to 29 August 2010.

Hindus raise money for Muslim girl's wedding

Lucknow : It was more than a wedding since it also symbolised celebration of unity and communal harmony when Hindus in an Uttar Pradesh village raised money for a poor Muslim girl's marriage.

Hindus in Sunhera village in Baghpat district, some 400 km from here, performed the marriage Sunday. They are proud of their action, which they say will go a long way in fostering relations between the two communities.

Mass welcome to AMU team in Kishanganj

Aligarh: The Aligarh Muslim University (AMU) team led by Vice Chancellor Prof. P. K. Abdul Azis received a mass welcome at Bagdogra airport as thousands of people came to receive the AMU team. They took them in a convoy of 150 vehicles from Bagdogra airport to Kishanganj, almost 100 kilometers.

The AMU team was on a visit to Kishanganj to inspect 250 acres of land identified by Bihar government for establishing Special Centre of AMU under the provision 12(2) of AMU Act.
