Two constables arrested in Sohrabuddin case

Gandhinagar: After the arrest of Indian Police Service (IPS) officer Vipul Agrawal Monday night in connection with the killing in a fake gun fight of Tulsi Prajapati, the sole eyewitness of the Sohrabuddin Sheikh staged killing, two constables of the Gujarat police were arrested Tuesday.

Prajapati, a close associate of Sohrabuddin, was killed in Banaskantha district in December 2006, about a year after Sohrabuddin's elimination in Ahmedabad.

New Delhi: Following the acquittal of Fahim Ansari and Sabahuddin by the Mumbai Special Court in 26/11 case Jamia Teachers' Solidarity Association (JTSA) demanded Rakesh Maria be removed from his police duties.

JTSA alleges that the verdict proves that Fahim Ansari and Sabahuddin had been framed. Mumbai Police had claimed that the duo had surveyed the targets, though David Headley has pleaded guilty to this in the US.

A code of conduct to ensure civilian security by J&K Coalition of Civil Society

Jammu: When civilian death, casualty and other difficulties rein the scene of conflict in the state, the Jammu Kashmir Coalition of Civil Society has come up with a code of conduct for the state and non-state actors. The organization made an appeal of 11 points to ensure civilian security and sent it to important officials including the Chief Minister of the state Mr Omar Abdullah, its statement said.

Fifth Gujarat cop arrested in Sohrabuddin case

Gandhinagar : The Gujarat police's criminal investigation department Monday arrested the fifth Indian Police Service officer - Dahod Superintendent of Police Vipul Agrawal - in connection with the staged killing of Tulsi Prajapati, the sole eye-witness to the killing of Sohrabuddin Sheikh.

Agrawal was arrested in the state capital and is likely to be brought before a court Tuesday.

"At around 9.30, I was told that some locals had a problem with me being a Muslim. I was categorically asked to hand over the keys so that my belongings could be shifted out immediately. I was told that I shouldn't enter the building again or I would be hurt."

Majid Khan and his wife Gayatri had signed an agreement, gone through police verification and shifted their belongings to enter their new rented home on May 1.

The owner Jyoti Rege told Mumbai Mirror, that ran the story, he did not want to rent his flat out anymore.
