New Delhi: For Shah Faesal, the first Kashmiri to top the civil services examination, joining the country's most elite service may have been his biggest dream, but there is another subject very close to his heart - the Right to Information (RTI) Act.

"The RTI act is a harbinger of change. We can make a difference if we know how to use it," said Faesal, a doctor from the remote district of Kupwara.

AMU mourns demise of Prof. Muslim Taj Ahmad

Aligarh: Aligarh Muslim University (AMU) is mourning the sad demise of Prof. Muslim Taj Ahmad, Principal of Zakir Husain College of Engineering and Technology, AMU. He was buried today morning in Minto E, the University graveyard.

A large number of members of AMU community including Vice Chancellor Prof. P. K. Abdul Azis, Registrar Prof. V. K. Abdul Jaleel, Controller, Prof. Pervez Mustajab and other University functionaries attended the burial program.

Ahmedabad: Apparently fearing that CBI investigations into the Sohrabuddin-Tulsiram fake encounter cases might lead to arrest of some important BJP leaders, a little known organization Jan Adhikar Samiti inserted communally provocative advertisements in Saturday edition of the Gujarati language dailies across the state intended to influence the public opinion about the genuineness of the CBI probe.

Notices to Gujarat BJP leaders in Sohrabuddin case

Gandhinagar: The brother of Sohrabudin Sheikh, who was allegedly killed by the Gujarat police in a staged gunfight, Saturday served notices to the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leaders for contempt of court.

Rajesh P. Mankad, the Ahmedabad-based lawyer for Rubabuddin who lives in Madhya Pradesh, said that the pronouncements by the BJP leaders May 2 in Ahmedabad were a clear contempt of the Supreme Court and its orders and pronouncements in the case of Rubabuddin Sheikh versus the state of Gujarat.
