Terrorism has become a worldwide disease which is swallowing the lives of thousands of innocent people in certain intensive conflict areas like Iraq, Pakistan, Afghanistan, Kashmir, North East India, certain other parts of India, South Thailand and so on. There are different reasons for terrorist violence in different conflict areas which vary from political to socio-economic injustices.

EU delegation meets Kashmiri separatist leaders

Srinagar: A delegation from four European Union (EU) countries Monday met Kashmiri separatist leaders, including hardliner Syed Ali Geelani and moderate Mirwaiz Umer Farooq here.

The EU delegation comprising members from Finland, Denmark, Norway and Sweden met Geelani, the chairman of the breakaway hardline Hurriyat group, at his uptown Hyderpora residence.

"Geelani apprised the EU delegates of the latest situation here and also drew their attention to the growing human rights violations in Kashmir by the Indian security forces," a spokesman of the group said here.

MIM nominates senior journalist for legislative council

Hyderabad: Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (MIM) has decided to field senior journalist Syed Amin-ul-Hasan Jafri as its candidate for Andhra Pradesh state legislative council.

The Muslim political party ignored contenders from its own ranks to field Jafri who is not a member of the party.

The 55-year-old journalist's election as council member is certain as ruling Congress party has left one seat for its ally MIM while contesting two other seats.

Two journalists held in Aligarh gay teacher case

Aligarh : Two journalists have been arrested on charges of breaching the privacy of gay Aligarh Muslim University (AMU) teacher S.R. Siras who was found dead earlier this month, police said Monday.

Adil and Siraj, journalists with a local TV channel, were arrested late Sunday. The two along with another mediaperson filmed Siras in a consensual homosexual act with a rickshaw puller in his room in the AMU premises.

AIMMM reiterates demand for Muslim reservation, sub-quota in WRB
