Rejecting the petition, a division bench of Justices Jayant Patel and Abhilasha Kumari said: "The alleged apprehension of bias for seeking transfer of the cases cannot be termed as 'a reasonable apprehension' to attract the power of transfer of the cases." |

Meanwhile, the team has sought permission from its headquarters to question Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi in his capacity as the state's home minister, the sources said. Pande was Wednesday summoned by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) probing the 2005 killing of Sohrabuddin Sheikh in a staged shootout. He has been told to appear before the CBI Aug 11, CBI sources said. Pande was the Ahmedabad commissioner of police during the 2002 communal riots and was the state police chief when a bulk of the shootouts by the police, including the one in which Sheikh was killed, took place. Pande was made chairman of the Gujarat Police Housing Corporation after his retirement. |

The state government has also admitted to some "minor mistakes" in the pilot project currently going on in Barpeta and Chaygaon Revenue Circles. All Assam Minority Students' Union (AAMSU) along with All India United Democratic Front (AIUDF), have been raising the issue of widespread irregularities and discrepancies in the updating process. They had also demanded from the government to halt the updating work. |
