Normal life remained on an idle in entire Kashmir region today on the eve of the Martyrs' Day as authorities imposed curfew and imposed restrictions on civilian movement to thwart a planned separatist march. |

"The country's Muslims don't hold terrorist Afzal Guru (parliament attack convict) and Osama bin Laden as their icon, but the Congress party attempts to divert the attention of the people from real terrorism by terming it as Hindu-Muslim terrorism," BJP vice president Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi said in a statement. |
Kerala Police raid offices of radical Muslim group Posted: 13 Jul 2010 09:34 AM PDT By IANS, Kozhikode (Kerala): Kerala Police Tuesday launched raids at the offices of Popular Front, a radical Muslim organisation, whose members are allegedly behind the attack on a teacher whose palm was chopped off and were also stockpiling crude arms and explosives. Raids have now been conducted at the state committee office of Popular Front in Kozhikode besides offices at other districts like Kasargode and Wayanad. A large number of documents were seized from the group's office in Kozhikode and police are examining them. |

Husain Gallery of Fine Arts on the campus. The exhibition was inaugurated July 2 by Uma Ravi Jain, the director of the Dhoomimal Gallery. It will close July 15, said a release issued by the centre for learning. |
Apex court okays Tamil Nadu quota law Posted: 13 Jul 2010 09:32 AM PDT By IANS, New Delhi: The Supreme Court Tuesday granted protection to Tamil Nadu's quota law which provides 69 percent reservation in educational institutions and jobs to scheduled castes and tribes and other backward classes, but advised the state government to revisit the issue. The apex court bench of Chief Justice S.H. Kapadia and Justices K.S. Radhakrishna Rao and Swatanter Kumar directed the state backward classes commission to revisit the reservation issue in the light of the Mandal case judgement dealing with quotas. |

AMU postpones entrance test for civil services coaching Posted: 13 Jul 2010 02:50 AM PDT By TCN News, Aligarh: The Aligarh Muslim University today postponed the national-level entrance test for admission at its Residential Coaching Academy (RCA), the Central Government funded coaching centre for civil/judicial services examinations. The test was due on 15th July 2010. AMU Vice-Chancellor Prof PK Abdul Azis has ordered postponement of the entrance test that was to be held at four centres in the country. The test will now take place on 1st August, 2010 as per schedule. |

"Restrictions are in place throughout Srinagar city as a precautionary measure to protect civilian life and property from the designs of anti-social elements," a senior police officer said. |
