Judicial commission to probe Kashmir civilian killings Posted: 27 Jul 2010 10:50 AM PDT By IANS, Srinagar: The Jammu and Kashmir government Tuesday constituted a judicial commission to enquire into 17 civilian deaths that occurred allegedly on account of actions by the state police and security forces. The commission will be headed by Justice Bashir-ud-Din, a retired judge of the state high court, and will also include Justice Y.P. Nargotra, another retired judge. The commission will submit its report in three months, according to an official statement issued here. The decision was taken in a state cabinet chaired by Chief minister Omar Abdullah. |

Amin, whose plea to turn approver in the 2005 Sohrabuddin Sheikh killing case is slated to come up for hearing Aug 3, may find the going tough in his bid to seek pardon. The Central Bureau of India (CBI), in its 3,000-page chargesheet filed in the staged shootout case, has given clear indications that it proposed to turn suspended sub-inspector V.A. Rathod and constables Santram Sharma and Ajay Parmar as approvers in the case, sources said. |

Popularly known as Ahad Bub. The saint passed away on Monday evening at Sher-i-Kashmir Institute of Medical Sciences after prolonged illness. He had been admitted in the Institute about a fortnight ago following complaint of chest pain. He had undergone CT scan. |

Amin's plea to turn approver in the 2005 Sohrabuddin Sheikh killing in Gujarat was Tuesday put off to Aug 3 by a court following objections by eight other co-accused. A special Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) court postponed the hearing on Amin's plea after eight co-accused in the case filed objection petition to his plea filed Monday, a day when the CBI was allowed to question Gujarat's former minister Amit Shah in jail for three days, starting July 28. |

Mohammed said the first such report of a Taliban style court appeared in Veekshenam daily this month and was followed by a series of reports in Mathrubhoomi daily. |
