Ishrat Jahan case probe team submits interim report Posted: 16 Jul 2010 10:17 AM PDT By IANS, Gandhinagar : The Gujarat High Court-appointed Special Investigation Team (SIT) probing the alleged Ishrat Jahan fake gunfight Friday submitted its interim report. It also sought more time to complete the investigation. The SIT is reported to have admitted that it had failed to secure details of telephone and mobile records of the key police officers as well as victims for the period between June 1 and 20, 2004 because the case was old and no records were available. |

In 2008 protest started jointly by all separatist parties over allotment of 100 acres of government land to Shri Amarnath Shrine Board which its Chief Executive Officer wrongly said was purchased permanently. The land was to be used for construction of pre-fabricated huts for langars and other facilities for the yatris (pilgrims). It was interpreted by the leaders of the agitation as a conspiracy to change demography of Kashmir. |

Owing to restrictions, no prayers could be offered at a number of Masjids in curfewed areas including the Srinagar's historic Jamia Masjid. However, widespread protests erupted after Friday prayers with people defying restrictions and staging protest demonstrations at Hyderpora and Barzulla the civil-lines area of summer capital. |

Curfew was also announced in Ganderbal, Badgam and Sopore, while curfew-like restrictions were in place in Anantnag, Kulgam, Pulwama, Baramulla, Kupwara, Shopian and Bandipora towns. |

The blood donation camp will be held on 16th July, 2010 at 1:00 pm onwards by TNTJ Dammam Province at Al khobar King Fahd Hospital. This will be the 6th such camp organized by TNTJ. Minority institutions can't be forced to implement teachers' quota: Court Posted: 15 Jul 2010 11:10 AM PDT By IANS, New Delhi: The state cannot compel minority institutions to reserve teaching posts for Scheduled Castes (SCs) and Scheduled Tribes (STs), the Supreme Court has said. The court said that the actions of the state in discharge of its "duties, functions and governance" should be "within constitutional framework". The provision of law or a circular, the court said, which would be enforced against the general class, may not be enforceable with the same force against the minority institution, particularly where it relates to the establishment and management of the school. |
