Court refuses to revive Babri case against Advani Posted: 20 May 2010 10:49 AM PDT By IANS Lucknow: Senior Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader L.K. Advani and 20 others got a reprieve Thursday with the Allahabad High Court rejecting a plea to revive criminal cases against them in the 18-year-old Babri Mosque demolition case. The Lucknow bench of the court dismissed a plea of the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) to revive criminal cases against the accused. |
Delhi serial blasts accused given copy charge-sheet Posted: 20 May 2010 10:46 AM PDT By IANS New Delhi: A city court Thursday handed over a copy of the charge sheet to the two suspected terrorists accused of involvement in the 2008 Delhi serial blasts. Delhi police filed the charge sheet against Salman Ahmed and Mohammad Shahzad May 15. The defence will give its reply on the charges to Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Kaveri Baweja May 24. Baweja May 5 allowed police 10 days' time to file a charge sheet against Shahzad and Salman, arrested in February and March this year respectively. |
Two die in Ladakh avalanche, army rescues 73 Posted: 20 May 2010 10:44 AM PDT By IANS New Delhi: An Indian Army team rescued 73 civilians trapped under an avalanche in Ladakh on Tuesday in which two people died under mounds of snow, including a tourist from Bangalore, an official said here Thursday. An army spokesperson said 75 civilians and many vehicles were trapped under the avalanche Tuesday when a landslide struck near Changla top, the third highest pass in the world at 17,350 ft height. |

He is one of the survivors of the Monday brutal attack by Maoists in Dantewada, in which 36 people, including 12 Special Police Officers (SPOs), were killed when the bus carrying them was blown up. The toll could have been much higher as more than 75 people were traveling in the public bus had Ismail Khan not acted bravely. |
