Kashmir separatists set up panel on protests Posted: 27 Apr 2010 07:15 AM PDT By IANS, Srinagar: Mirwaiz Umer Farooq, chairman of the moderate Hurriyat group, Tuesday announced a two-member committee to work out a common protest programme in consultation with other separatist leaders. "A two-member committee comprising Muhammad Abdullah Tari and Aga Syed Hassan will hold talks with other senior separatist leaders, including Syed Ali Shah Geelani and Muhammad Yasin Malik, to work out a common protest programme. |

Wakf amendment bill seeks representation of women Posted: 27 Apr 2010 03:05 AM PDT By IANS, New Delhi: Minority Affairs Minister Salman Khurshid Tuesday introduced the Wakf (Amendment) Bill, 2010, in the Lok Sabha that seeks to address the lapses in the Wakf Act, 1995, and also provides for representation of women, professionals and experts in the wakf councils. The bill seeks to address the inadequacy of data on waqf properties, encroachment, development of waqf properties and the absence of a statutory obligation to ensure flow of information from the state waqf boards and state governments to the central waqf council. |

The M.A. in Mass Communication has received 1,722 applications against an intake of 50 students while 527 applications have been received in M.A. Convergent Journalism course which has only 20 seats. |
