Togadia summoned by Gujarat riot probe panel Posted: 18 Apr 2010 05:27 AM PDT By IANS, Gandhinagar : The Supreme Court-appointed Special Investigation Team (SIT) probing the 2002 post-Godhra riots has summoned Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) leader Praveen Togadia, sources close to him said here Sunday. According to the sources, the SIT summons were faxed to Togadia's Delhi office. He has been asked to appear before the probe panel here within a week from April 19. |

Afsar Khan, member of Andhra Pradesh state legislative assembly from Karwan constituency in Hyderabad, and his two supporters were booked under section 353 of the Indian Penal Code (assault or criminal force to deter public servant from discharge of his duty). |
MIM opposes union territory status to Hyderabad Posted: 18 Apr 2010 01:50 AM PDT By IANS, Hyderabad : Ending its silence over the Telangana issue, the Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (MIM) Sunday opposed the demand for union territory status to Hyderabad and suggested that if the bifurcation of Andhra Pradesh becomes inevitable, a Greater Telangana state comprising Telangana and Rayalseema regions be formed. MIM, a key political force in Hyderabad, said it was basically for continuing the present status of Andhra Pradesh with constitutional guarantees to Telangana. |
