Ayesha's family shows 'proof' of marriage with Shoaib Posted: 02 Apr 2010 11:11 AM PDT By IANS, Hyderabad: The controversy surrounding Pakistani cricketer Shoaib Malik's "first marriage" with a girl from this city got murkier Friday with the girl's family coming out with a "proof" of the marriage and demanding a ban on his visit to India ahead of his proposed marriage with tennis star Sania Mirza later this month. Ayesha Siddiqui's parents Friday night addressed a highly emotional press conference at their residence here, accusing Shoaib of cheating their daughter after marrying her and demanded that he give divorce to her before marrying Sania. |

Ayesha also demanded that Malik give her an "official divorce" before marrying Indian tennis star Sania Mirza. Siddiqui, 23, told Times Now TV news channel that she had the documents to prove that she was Malik's first wife. The cricketer has denied he married Ayesha. |

Shakeel is currently in Sabarmati Jail of Gujarat. He will be brought to Tihar Jail on April 4. |

BJP Lok Sabha member Prahlad Joshi, spokesperson Nirmala Sitharaman, national secretary Dr. Laxman and Rajya Sabha member K.B. Shanappa are the other members. "The committee will visit the riot-hit areas to take stock of the situation there. Later, it will submit a report to the party president," according to a party statement here. |

Police had made massive security arrangements in view of the Friday prayers. Though the curfew was not relaxed thus preventing huge congregations at major mosques, Muslims offered prayers either in neighbourhood mosques or in their homes. Police allowed over 200 people including some leaders of Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (MIM) to offer prayers at the historic Mecca Masjid, where thousands gather every Friday. |

Even though the situation remained peaceful, police were on high alert because of Friday prayers. Police decided not to relax the curfew in all 25 police station areas since they anticipated trouble during Friday prayers. They have requested Muslims to pray in their homes. Police Commissioner A.K. Khan told reporters that curfew, which was relaxed for two hours in 17 police station areas Thursday, would continue without any relaxation Friday. |

Siras for "gross professional misconduct". Hearing the teacher's plea, a division bench of Justice Sunil Ambwani and Justice K.N. Pandey also stayed the order of the varsity administration directing Siras, a teacher in the Modern Indian Languages department, to vacate his official accommodation. Siras was suspended Feb 9 after he was filmed while allegedly having consensual sex with a local rickshaw-puller. |

Situation peaceful in Hyderabad as curfew relaxed Posted: 01 Apr 2010 11:15 AM PDT By IANS, Hyderabad: The situation in riot-hit parts of Hyderabad Thursday remained peaceful while people in curfew-bound areas of the city got some relief with authorities relaxing the curfew for two hours. No untoward incident was reported from any of the areas in the old city, where curfew was relaxed in two phases, police said. Thousands of people, living under curfew for the last three days, came out to buy essential commodities. Long queues were seen outside grocery shops, milk booths and medical stores during the relaxation. |

Farooq Ahmad, the director of census in Jammu and Kashmir, told IANS Thursday over telephone from Srinagar: "The calendar of the two-phased census in Jammu and Kashmir was made in 2009 keeping in view climatic conditions and availability of staff." There are many other parts of the country like Jammu and Kashmir where census begins on May 15. |
