American Center donates books to Jamia Posted: 14 Jun 2010 09:40 AM PDT By IANS New Delhi: The American Center here Monday donated some of its best collection of American literature and history to the Jamia Milia university, terming it a small gesture of the "deeper ties" between the two. Michael P. Pelletier, minister-counsellor for public affairs at the American Center, said: "This is a small part of our deep ties with Jamia. These books are on literature as well as political write ups." The 200 books that were donated will be included in the section of American writings in the new building of the Dr. Zakir Husain Library of the varsity. |
Kerala daily signs MoU with Abu Dhabi Police Posted: 14 Jun 2010 09:37 AM PDT By IANS Abu Dhabi: Siraj Malayalam, a Kerala-based daily, has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Abu Dhabi Police on media cooperation between the two sides. The Siraj daily, which has an edition from Dubai, has agreed to serve as a media conduit with the Indian community in the UAE. Major General Khalil Dawood Badran, director general of the finance and services at Abu Dhabi Police and Al Sheikh Abu Bakr Musliyar Kanthapuram, head of Siraj Publishing Group were present during the signing of the MoU Sunday. |

Gujarat has the most – 44, followed by Uttar Pradesh (41) and Karnataka (32). The year of construction of mosques varies from 12th to 19th Century AD. Authorities imposed restrictions in areas covered by five police stations to prevent more violence. A press release issued Sunday said Railway minister Mamta Banerjee has taken "keen interest" in planning the special trains which will allow devotees to participate in the urs. Irate mobs engaged police and paramilitary Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) troopers in Batmaloo, Bemina, Nowshera, Magarmal Bagh and Safa Kadal areas of the city as the security forces exercised restraint while dealing with the law and order situation here. |
